Nearly Half of EU Territory ‘At Risk’ of Drought, Say Researchers

Researchers on the European Fee warned on Monday that just about half of the EU’s territory is at present vulnerable to drought, as southwest Europe wilted below a punishing heatwave.

In a report for July, the European Fee’s Joint Analysis Centre stated 46 per cent of the EU’s territory was uncovered to warning-level of drought, with 11 per cent at an alert stage, with crops already affected by the shortage of water.
