NCP LEADER Eknath Khadse has been referred to as for questioning on the Colaba police station on Thursday in reference to the telephone tapping case.
Senior IPS officer Rashmi Shukla, who previously headed the State Intelligence Division of Maharashtra Police, is accused of tapping the telephone calls of Shiv Sena chief Sanjay Raut and NCP chief Khadse.
“His assertion is essential for the investigation and that’s why he has been referred to as,” stated an investigator.
An FIR was registered towards Shukla on the Colaba police station early in March beneath the Indian Telegraph Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code, following a criticism by senior police officer Rajiv Jain. In his criticism, Jain alleged that Shukla had put the telephones of Raut and Khadse beneath surveillance.
Since then, investigators have twice recorded the assertion of Shukla, who claimed that she had sought the requisite approvals earlier than tapping the telephone conversations.
