West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed concern and sought a report on the problem, sources on the state secretariat, Nabanna, informed ET. Of the 2 murders, Purulia’s Jhalda Congress councillor Tapan Kundu was shot lifeless on Sunday. Police have detained two of his relations — Naren and Deepak Kandu — on this connection. West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee Chief and Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Tapan’s house. “Tapan Kandu was intimidated by Trinamool leaders. When he refused to give up to their calls for, he was murdered,” Chowdhury mentioned.
In the meantime, one other Trinamool Councillor from Panihati, Anupam Dutta, was killed at level clean vary and the police have arrested one Amit Pandit on this connection. The locals chased Amit Pandit and helped the police arrest him. Amit alias Sambhu Pandit has been remanded to 10-day judicial custody. The locals protested the dying of Dutta who was a well-liked face within the locality.
