Sixteen individuals who have been illegally transporting PDS rice to neighbouring States have been arrested by the Hyderabad police right here on Friday.
Performing on a tip-off, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Activity Drive (North Zone) group led by inspector Okay Nageswar Rao together with Tukaramgate police and Civil Provides Division officers carried out simultaneous raids at three locations – Rio Level Resort, a godown at Pashamailaram, BDL Bhanoor in Sangareddy and Mahalaxmi rice mill, Ramaram, Raipole in Siddipet Commissionerate – and apprehended them and seized about 410 quintals of PDS rice together with six automobiles.
“The accused are illegally buying PDS rice from beneficiaries in Tukaramgate space and different areas within the metropolis at a low worth and transporting it to Gujarat to make a fast buck,” Further DCP (North) G Venkateshwarlu mentioned.
