Lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on Spain’s La Palma reached the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday night, 9 days after it began to stream down the island, in response to experiences.
Some coastal villages have been in lockdown over fears of the lava reaching the ocean and releasing poisonous fuel.
Spain’s authorities labeled the island of La Palma as a catastrophe zone on Tuesday, a transfer that may set off emergency subsidies and different help measures.
The federal government introduced the primary bundle of 10.5 million euros, which incorporates round 5 million euros to purchase homes, with the remaining to amass furnishings and important family items, authorities spokesperson Isabel Rodriguez instructed reporters on Tuesday.
Lava has been slowly flowing down the volcano’s western flank towards the ocean since Sept 19, destroying virtually 600 homes in addition to church buildings and banana plantations in La Palma, which neighbors Tenerife within the Canary Islands archipelago off North Africa.
