bjp: BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP from UP submits bill seeking to repeal Worship Act

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP from UP, Harnath Singh Yadav, has submitted a personal member’s invoice with the Rajya Sabha secretariat in search of to repeal The Locations of Worship (Particular Provisions) Act, 1991. The Locations of Worship (Particular Provisions) Repeal invoice 2022 was submitted on June 25.

The Locations of Worship Act was enacted in 1991 to ban conversion of anywhere of worship and to supply for the upkeep of the non secular character of anywhere of worship because it existed on August 15, 1947. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi- Babri Mosque was an exception to the Act.

Yadav argues that the 1991 Act not solely violates elementary rights reminiscent of the correct to equality and the correct to life but in addition infringes on citizen’s constitutionally assured proper to spiritual freedom.
