New Delhi: The United Nations Common Meeting on Thursday (April 7) authorized a decision suspending Russia’s membership in Human Rights Council.
The 193-member Common Meeting voted to undertake the US-led decision suspending Russia from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the world physique’s prime human rights organisation. 93 nations voted in favour of the decision, 58 together with India abstained, whereas 24 nations voted in opposition to the draft decision.
A two-thirds majority of voting members was required to droop Russia from the 47-member UNHRC.
