Meghalaya Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Thursday recognised the merger of 12 Congress MLAs with All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
The choice was made on the petitions filed by Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh for disqualification below the Tenth Schedule of the Structure.

Congress, however, had challenged the merger and sought the disqualification of the MLAs. CLP chief Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh had, on November 29, filed a petition with Meeting Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh searching for the disqualification of the 12 defected legislators.
Two separate petitions have been filed by Congress towards the merger, on November 29, one petition was filed and submitted by Congress Legislative Get together Chief Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh. On December 10, two extra petitions have been filed and submitted to the Speaker towards two legislators.
In the meantime, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh has determined to not pursue the petition searching for disqualification of defecting legislators any additional. She, nonetheless, stated the choice on this regard rests with the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee President, Vincent Pala.
