BEIJING: Germany’s new ambassador to China, a former adviser to Chancellor Angela Merkel, has died, the German International Ministry mentioned Monday.
In a brief assertion the International Ministry mentioned Jan Hecker, Merkel’s former international coverage adviser, had died only some days after taking on his new workplace.
“It’s with deep disappointment and dismay that we now have discovered of the loss of life of the German ambassador in China, Prof. Dr. Jan Hecker,” the ministry mentioned in a press release on its web site. “Our ideas in these moments are together with his household and the folks near him.”
The ministry gave no additional particulars as to when Hecker, 54, died nor the place.
Hecker, who turned ambassador in August, was married and had three youngsters, in accordance with his biography on the International Ministry web site.
