The Taliban lately “massacred” and brutally tortured a number of members of the Hazara minority in Afghanistan, says human rights group Amnesty Worldwide.
Witnesses have given harrowing accounts of the killings, which came about in early July in Ghazni province.
Since taking up the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday, the Taliban have tried to painting a extra restrained picture.
However Amnesty mentioned the incident was a “horrifying indicator” of Taliban rule.
The Hazara neighborhood is Afghanistan’s third largest ethnic group. They primarily practise Shia Islam and have confronted long-term discrimination and persecution in predominantly Sunni Afghanistan and Pakistan.
