The BJP-led Mainpuri Zila Panchayat in Uttar Pradesh has handed a decision proposing to rename the district as Mayan Nagar.
Final month, BJP’s Archana Bhadauria received the Zila Panchayat (district council) election in Mainpuri, ending the decades-long rule of the Samajwadi Social gathering within the space. Mainpuri was a stronghold of Samajwadi Social gathering patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, who received 5 elections from the constituency.
On Monday, Zila Panchayat president Archana Bhadauria held a gathering of the panchayat members within the Collectorate Auditorium. The panchayat members proposed to alter the identify of Mainpuri to after sage Mayan.
Regardless of protests from some panchayat members, the decision was handed as the bulk was in favour of the proposal.
In 2018, the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP authorities in Uttar Pradesh renamed Allahabad to Prayagraj and Faizabad to Ayodhya.
